Dr. Richard Chaffoo, a triple board certified plastic surgeon in La Jolla, California, has recently received a series of honors recognizing his work in the field of plastic surgery, including two prestigious appointments within the plastic surgery community.
San Diego, California (February 2009) – Local plastic surgeons recently honored one of their own, Dr. Richard Chaffoo, by electing him to two prestigious roles in the plastic surgery community. On January 1st, Dr. Chaffoo became Chief of the Plastic Surgery Section of Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, and was also elected to the office of President of the San Diego Plastic Surgery Society.
“I am eager and excited to be taking on these responsibilities,” said Dr. Chaffoo from his La Jolla Skin practice. “I consider each of these positions to be a great honor, particularly since I was elected by my colleagues in the plastic surgery community.” Both the Chief of Plastic Surgery position and the Society President position are elected by a constituency of plastic surgeons practicing in the greater San Diego area.
As Chief of Plastic Surgery at Scripps, Dr. Chaffoo will assume several important responsibilities over the course of his two year tenure. He will oversee the administration of the Plastic Surgery Section, and will play a key role in supervising plastic surgeons, interviewing new surgeons, and maintaining the integrity of the plastic surgery team at Scripps. The job also involves facilitating relationships between the Plastic Surgery Section and other sections of this large medical center.
As President of the San Diego Plastic Surgery Society, Dr. Chaffoo will take the helm of San Diego’s only plastic surgery society for the next year. His duties will include promoting educational, professional, and social development of the society and its member physicians. He will preside over the group’s regular meetings and facilitate discussions about relevant issues in the plastic surgery community.
In addition to these two prestigious appointments, Dr. Chaffoo has recently received recognition from two notable publications for his work in the area of plastic surgery. New Beauty Magazine, one of the world’s premiere beauty magazines, has selected before and after photos of Dr. Chaffoo’s patients for publication in two of their upcoming issues. “This came as a surprise and a delight to me,” says Dr. Chaffoo. “New Beauty really sets the standard for magazines of this nature – this is a truly an honor.” Dr. Chaffoo also has been selected as one of the area’s Top Plastic Surgeons by readers of La Jolla Light Newspaper.
Dr. Chaffoo is a La Jolla plastic surgeon who also performs plastic surgery in the Inland Empire and Northern San Diego County. He is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Otolaryngology, and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This triple board certification is not commonplace among plastic surgeons, and along with Dr. Chaffoo’s credentials, training, and experience no doubt played a part in many of the recent accolades he has acquired.
