NeoGraft Procedure

Before the start of the procedure, we will administer an anesthetic and shave the donor site. The NeoGraft® machine is then used to gently harvest healthy follicles from the marked donor area. The machine uses air-pressured suction technology and is less damaging to the extracted follicles and tissue compared to traditional FUE methods. ⁽¹⁾ Dr. Chaffoo can then place the donor hairs in the targeted area, placing them to create a natural-looking result that will blend seamlessly with the rest of the hair. The entire procedure can take anywhere from 3-8 hours depending on how large the treatment area is and how many hairs are being transplanted.

Recovery

Patients undergoing a NeoGraft® hair restoration treatment should follow any recovery instructions given to them by Dr. Chaffoo or another member of our knowledgeable team. Immediately following their treatment, patients may experience slight redness and sensitivity in the treatment area, as well as in the donor site. Any discomfort experienced can be managed through the use of over-the-counter medications approved by Dr. Chaffoo. Patients are encouraged to rest after their procedure, but they can usually return to work within a few days after their treatment. A few days after the procedure, small scabs may appear around the implanted follicles. Patients should refrain from picking at these scabs as they are a normal part of the healing process. ⁽³⁾

Patients will start experiencing new hair growth between 3-6 months after their treatment, but experience fuller results around 6-12 months later. Hair growth may appear to be thin or fine at first, but will gradually get thicker and denser.

Results

Patients who have undergone a NeoGraft® hair restoration treatment can often see the full effects of their treatment about 6-12 months after their procedure. While the hair growth is initially very fine, patients experience that the hair gets thicker and denser as it continues to grow.
